Update - 4 and a half weeks left

There are four and a half weeks left of your summer break, hope you all have been reading up! I know you all are reading different books at different times, so use this blog to ask me questions and to discuss the books. We can discuss the characters, plots, themes, etc.

Hi all!

I hope all of you are having a safe and fun summer. I have been very busy - I was at Gallaudet University for 2 and a half weeks training to become an ASL/English mentor at SSSD. O'Rourke and I were there together and we worked with teachers from all over the United States. We did one year's worth of work in 2 weeks! We read 4 books and more than 20 articles, all about bilingual education (learning in two languages), and wrote a total of 24 essays!

NIght Birds' first summer blog! Which book first?

Hello Night Birds! Let's get started with reading! Don't forget the importance of reading!

You have three books to read this summer as a group:
-Night
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

Night is about the Holocaust (when the Jews were killed by Hitler's Nazis); To Kill a Mockingbird is about oppression and discrimination faced by black people in the south; and The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is about a deaf character. I have not read the last book but look forward to reading it with you guys!
